About |
What do people want? The By-Election has come and gone, and we'll be putting out a follow-up post talking about the fallout soon, but as with any elective process we're left with the question that drives democratic politics: What, exactly, do the people want? Traditionally, a group, party or independent politician's response would be to write up a manifesto, mostly composed of things that they want, informed by their own personal experiences, bigotries and things they saw on Newsnight once. They would then build their campaign by insisting that this in fact represents what you, The People of Britain, have actually wanted all along. We at People First have a different approach. It's right there in the name, so it would be a little hypocritical if we didn't at least try to tailor our platform to, well, actual People. So we've decided to do a little research. Running a political group (and indeed, the blog of said group) we get a lot of feedback about various issues, but what we really need is cold, hard data. The sort of data you can put into a spreadsheet. The sort of data that makes the pretty graphs that you can take one look at and say with confidence: ""ah, that's what we should be focussing on."" |
